Teaching kids music and rhythm at a young age is essential to their development

A singer, songwriter and musician whose own love of music began at an early age, Lisa Yves played regularly in New York City's clubs and bars — once performing with Harry Connick Jr.— and began teaching music. Yves, who organizes annual concert recitals to showcase her students' work, performs this material live and plans to create additional volumes. Lisa is offering clinics and workshops in schools to teach kids, teachers and parents about jazz. She teaches rhythm, history, and vocal stylings through jazz repertoire. Invite her to come to your school and inject a little soul, spirit and swing into a new generation of young people.

Vocal Workshops

Jazz up your music program!

Lisa Yves offers 1,2 or 3 day workshops in vocal jazz at your school...

1 day includes 50 minute classes with grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-8 depending on class size. 25-40 students per class.

2-3 days includes 50 minute classes with grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-8, a few privates with especially gifted singers and a performance at the end of the program.

The program teaches children the art of jazz through voice and movement. They will learn traditional jazz using fun techniques and will finish the program with a broader understanding of the sounds of blues, rhythm changes and famous bebop standards. Children grades 1-8 respond very well to the program.

Also included is a Jazz for Kids CD for every child (while supplies last).   Every program is guaranteed to end with a spectacular jazz performance given by the students under Lisa's leadership.
