Jazz Rewind

Lisa Yves

The Jazz For Kids guru returns with her own versions of some of the best standards from the traditional jazz repertoire.

I have been singing songs in this genre since I first heard vocal jazz when I was 15. As a vocal jazz major at NYU, I studied the greats- Ella, Sarah, Carmen, Anita and listened to how they interpreted the Great American Songbook into a free and easy singing vocal jazz style. I first discovered the art of vocalese when I studied with master vocalese experts Marion Cowings and Kim Kalesti. You may know these songs from my Jazz For Kids releases, but it all began because of my love for traditional jazz and this genre. Great musicians join me on this album. Brad Hatfield (Piano, Organ), Marshall Wood (Upright bass), Dave Buda (Electric bass) Jim Gwin (Drums), Ken Cervenka (Tumpet), Mike Monaghan (Saxophone), John Wilkins (Guitar). I hope listening to it brings you as much joy as I had producing it. Special thanks to Fiona Campbell for designing the album cover.

When Time Stood Still

Swanson & Yves

Original songs for singers like Lady Gaga, Michael Buble, Karen Carpenter, Seth MacFarlane, KD Lang, Duets and solos that tug at the heartstrings and evoke strong feelings and emotions. Beautiful musical arrangements and powerful female and male vocals.

Songwriting duos often come about by happenstance, bonded by a similar creative spirit, but each bringing a unique element that combines to form it's own chemistry. R Keith Swanson and Lisa Yves met 18 years ago through ASCAP's songwriter's connection, one living in New York/London and the other living in Boston. Though the years they composed over 40 songs, starting first with their roots in jazz and musical theater, and then expanding into pop, country, rock and holiday songs. Though their creative collaboration has taken them down many roads together, they have only been in the same room once since meeting, composing all of their music remotely with the help of technology. Having created a substantial body of work as a co-writing team, with R Keith as the lyricist and Lisa as the composer (and often times the female vocalist), they have come together to release their first album, a collection of 14 of their songs, spanning genres called, When Time Stood Still; a long awaited calling card that they hope brings as much joy and inspiration to the listener as they felt in writing and producing the various songs.

Horrors Like These

Lisa Yves

A songwriter's take on the pervasiveness of violence in the human experience and the numbing response. A most unique studio album co-produced by the brother and sister team, Lenny Sukienik and Lisa Yves.

I have been creating music since the age of 12, playing the old Kohler and Campbell upright piano in my parents living room and learning how to sing. I used to jam on the piano with my brother Lenny on the guitar so our history of making music together is very rich. We co-wrote and co-produced this album for your listening and thought provoking pleasure and interest.

Vocals, keyboards and harmonica by Lisa Yves Guitars by Dave Henriquez, Lenny Sukienik.
Additional guitars and bass by Jason Kohler

Turntables and Vinyl

Lisa Yves

Throwback to the late seventies when my best friend and I would lip sync to the Stones, The Who, The Doors, Queen, Led Zeppelin. My brothers and I spent a lot of time in our basement in the seventies listening to great music.

I have been writing songs and singing since the mid seventies. So many hours spent playing the piano and singing would no doubt lead me to dedicate my life to music. I strive to share great content always. Whether it's a simple pop song or a complex jazz composition, I will always be truthful and real in my creativity.

Kiss My Axe

Hrt

In 2004, seven moms from the suburbs of Massachusetts got together and created a phenomenon. Here are their songs.

This unexpected twist of fate began in December 2004 evolving into an incredible journey that still has not reached its destination. Writing songs that are familiar and new at the same time, HRT inspires, empowers, and entertains. Women with diverse personal and musical backgrounds join together to write melodies and lyrics that are powerful, personal and poignant. HRT's musical influences are as diverse as the band itself, ranging from the classic rock and jam bands to today's modern rock. Together, these women have chemistry, energy and charisma that is evident both on and off the stage.
